Story
...
The story of proseom began over a decade ago through the craft and exploration of poetry as a entertaining but meaningful healing tool, by a poet from Yorkshire called Simon J. Hopker. Simon observed many times the powerful healing effect writing a poem for someone else could have on them employing humour, poignancy and turns of phrase that would hit directly in peoples hearts and often take words right out of their mouths.

This has led Simon to writing poems for members of the public on the streets of London, for residents in care homes and for paramedics during the Covid Pandemic. Simon has now written well over 500 poems and counting for other people.

In 2024, Simon began writing poems for the King's College Hospital community. The appreciation that patients, staff, volunteers and visitors continue to feel during the process of being written a poem for them about what is important to them, is something that has inspired Simon to go deeper into his work and also find a way to make his poetry available to as many people as possible. Thus proseom was born.

Proseom's ultimate vision is to improve hospital patient experience by providing 1-1 alternative creative therapy sessions and a digital platform which they can access at any point during their hospital stay. The digital platform will not only give patients the opportunity to listen back to their own poems but will also allow them to listen to other patients poems, as well as other relevant content such as healing music, guided meditations and spiritual teachings from all the major faiths.

In the spring of 2025, Roy, actor, producer and bio medical scientist decided to support Simon with his vision. After many conversations they have decided that to continue offering the power of therapeutic and motivational poetry to private individuals and business makes perfect sense as steady progress is made towards the ultimate vision.
